From Hobby to Achievement

Who would have thought that just a hobby could bring blessings. This was experienced by Revika Anita Sari, a student of the Social Work Study Program (IKS), Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN SunanKalijaga, who was the 3rd as well as favorite winner in Infographic Competition in a series of Social Work Contest organized by Social Work Student AssociationUniversitas Indonesia, Saturday (6/3) recently. This event aimed at facilitating discussion and a means of disseminating information related to Social Work discourse, targeting undergraduate (S1) students of Social Work in Indonesia.

The Head of Social Work (IKS) Study Program SitiSolechah, M.Si appreciated and congratulated Revika Anita Sari for her achievement. We wish you success and motivate your other friends to participate in the competition and achieve success. "But don't forget that academic achievement is still prioritized," said Solekhah.

Revika Anita Sari said that participating in this competition was based on her hobby in designing posters and editing videos. From that ability, I registered to take part in the competition. "I want to fill my spare time with useful activities and this is a golden opportunity to hone my skills in the field of editing," Revika said.

Revika explained the preparation for participating in the competition by finding out about what infographics are, what are the types, what are the benefits, and so on. At that time, I began to understand that an infographic is an information presented in the form of text combined with visual elements where a person can read information quickly and is easy to remember.

Then I started making infographics according to the facts and conditions in DKI Jakarta and relevant data. I did it step by step starting from the content, design series, image selection, image placement, and other elements. Finally, I was able to finish this infographic with the title "Synergize in Realizing Social Welfare during the COVID-19 Pandemic".

The contents of this infographic are about the reasons why Persons with Social Work Problems (PMKS) in DKI Jakarta are decreasing while positive cases of COVID-19 continue to rise and contain the important role of all element of society in overcoming this COVID-19 problem. Why is the data I present in DKI Jakarta? Yes, according to the name DKI (Special Capital Region) Jakarta is the axis of life for Indonesian citizens where many people depend on their fate there in the hope of achieving prosperity.

It was time for the announcement of the race, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 15.00 WIA via zoom. Alhamdulillah, thanks to the efforts, prayers, and support from all parties I was able to win the 3rd and favorite winner. I got the most number of likes with a total of 578 in Instagram @socialwellfair.

Revika advised us to remain productive even in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic, appreciate every opportunity, and see what has been planned with actions, not just thoughts. I am also still in the learning stage which continues to hone my skills properly by practicing independently, learning from more skilled people, participating in other competitions. The spirit of the KalijagaMuda is critically important to bring good reputation of UIN SunanKalijaga Yogyakarta. (Aan-Ch)
