FACULTY STUDENT SENATE (SEMA FDK)
UIN Sunan Kalijaga
OVERVIEW OF THE FDK STUDENT SENATE
The Student Senate (Senat Mahasiswa/SEMA) of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication (FDK), UIN Sunan Kalijaga, is the student legislative body at the faculty level that holds the highest authority in the functions of legislation, oversight, and budgeting. As the formal representative body of all students across study programs (KPI, BKI, PMI, MD, and IKS), SEMA plays a strategic role in balancing student organizational governance to ensure it remains aligned with university regulations and constituent aspirations.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
1. Regulatory Standardisation To draft and enact a legal framework — in the form of statutes and institutional regulations — governing student organisations within the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, thereby ensuring legal certainty and sound administrative order.
2. Internal Oversight and Checks and Balances To monitor and evaluate the performance of the executive bodies — namely DEMA-F and the HMPS units — ensuring that all work programmes are carried out transparently and in the best interests of the student body.
3. Policy Advocacy To serve as a formal channel of communication between students and the faculty administration, conveying student aspirations and ensuring that students' rights — both academic and organisational — are duly upheld.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND FLAGSHIP PROGRAMMES
In fulfilling its mandate, SEMA FDK implements a range of substantive and measurable programmes, including:
- General Student Assembly (Sidang Umum Mahasiswa) The highest deliberative forum within the faculty, convened to formulate the overarching direction of student work programmes and to undertake amendments to faculty-level student regulations.
- Fit and Proper Test A comprehensive selection and assessment process conducted for prospective leaders of student executive bodies, designed to uphold the quality and integrity of student leadership.
- Coordination and Evaluation Meetings Regular meetings held with DEMA-F and the HMPS units to monitor budget absorption, review programme implementation, and assess outcomes against established targets.
- Student Advocacy Post (Posko Advokasi Mahasiswa) A dedicated service centre providing consultation and assistance to students facing difficulties related to tuition fee arrangements (UKT), campus facilities, or other academic matters.
