HMPS FDK
The Study
Program Student Association (Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi or HMPS) within
the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication (FDK) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga is an
autonomous student organization at the department level. It functions as a
strategic partner to the study program management in realizing academic visions
and character development. Comprising HMPS KPI, BKI, PMI, MD, and IKS, this
organization is designed as a platform for students to actualize the academic
knowledge acquired in lectures into professional organizational practices.
Strategic
Objectives of HMPS: The
primary purpose of HMPS is to develop the intellectual potential, talents,
interests, and managerial skills of students. Specifically, HMPS aims to:
- Competency Acceleration: Bridging students' academic needs
with enrichment activities relevant to the graduate profiles of their
respective study programs.
- Social Laboratory: Serving as a space for students to
cultivate soft skills, such as problem-solving, leadership, and
interpersonal communication, which are essential prerequisites for the
professional world.
- Student Advocacy: Acting as a channel for student
aspirations to the study program management to improve academic services
and infrastructure.
Flagship
Work Programs and Contributions
The work
programs implemented by HMPS at FDK UIN Sunan Kalijaga are directed toward
strengthening student capacity based on Islamic and Indonesian values. The
program schemes include:
- Academic & Research
Enhancement:
Organizing scholarly discussions, journal writing workshops, and coaching
for student olympiads, which contribute directly to increasing the
department's non-academic achievements.
- Applied Field Knowledge: Initiatives such as communication
festivals (HMPS KPI), community assistance (HMPS PMI/IKS), or peer
counseling training (HMPS BKI), which serve as early simulations before
students participate in Field Professional Practice (PPL).
- Social Empowerment and Da'wah: Routine social actions and
community da'wah that reinforce the faculty's brand image as an
institution dedicated to addressing the welfare of the community (umat).
